About us

MD Build (Limited) is a family run Joinery company.  We specialise in all aspects of Joinery & Carpentry as well as related building works.  We believe quality and customer service should not be compromised and we strive to be the best at what we do.  To find out more about the MD Build team, please read our team biographies below.

“Hi, I’m Sarah, and along with my husband Mark, am co-owner of MD Build.  I deal with the day-to-day running of the business.  I like to think that I’m friendly and approachable, and I encourage people to ask questions about their project, no matter how small or trivial they think they are, after all, it’s the detail that matters.”

Sarah is responsible for the office side of the business including liaising with customers and suppliers, writing and sending out quotations, ordering materials, and supporting customers with their kitchen designs.

Prior to joining MD Build, Sarah completed a BA (Hons) in Management (Bradford) & then a further qualification in Advice & Guidance (Huddersfield).  She worked as a Careers Adviser for over 10 years, in various secondary schools around West Yorkshire and Cheshire.  Sarah enjoys spending time with son Ben, taking the dog (Toby) on walks around Chester, and going on family days out to Chester Zoo.

Sarah can be contacted either on 01244 853 888, or via email on

“Hi, I’m Mark, and along with my wife Sarah, am co-owner of MD Build.  You can find me in either the workshop or on site.  I’m here to answer any technical questions you may have, and also ensure your project runs smoothly”

Mark established MD Build in 2008.  He has over 15 years experience in the building trade focused on both bench and site joinery.  Prior to starting up MD Build, he had worked for both Laing O Rourke & Bovis Lend Lease, two leading UK construction companies, working on projects throughout the UK.

As well as Carpentry & Joinery, Mark has skills in construction and project management, his qualifications include a HND in Building Studies (Sheffield) and a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management (Salford).

Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is eager to start training up Ben in the family business, although at just over 1 year old, it may be a while before he’s allowed his own set of chisels!

If you’ve got a specific question for Mark, he’s normally in the workshop or at a customers house, but you can get him via email at

Other MD Build Team Members:

Dave is our full time joiner and has been with us since the beginning of 2014.  He is qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Joinery & Carpentry and has over 10 years experience working on both domestic and commercial joinery & building work.  He also has experience in tiling, brickwork, roofing, painting and general building works.  He enjoys spending time with his family including his three children and is a keen supporter of Liverpool FC.

“…We were impressed by the clean and tidy way in which Dave  worked. Our existing oak floors and carpets were well protected by special plastic film. All old materials were taken away each day and all dust etc.was vacuumed up immediately. It was a pleasure to have him in the house. He arrived when he said he would and kept us well informed of progress. The quality of the new joinery work is excellent and we feel the whole job is well worth the money spent…” (Mr & Mrs Gould, Chester, 2015)

Billy is our joiner apprentice and has started working with us in the summer of 2015. His role as an apprentice is to work alongside and learn from our joiners Mark and Dave. His main responsibilities are to carry out regular stock checks and to clean and sort out the tools within the company van as well as the workshop, making sure they are put away correctly.

Billy has previously been in college for two years studying joinery. He decided to work as a joiner because he enjoyed it in school after he made a birdhouse on a project. In his spare time he goes to the gym and is interested in fishing.

Billy will be attending West Cheshire college to begin his NVQ in joinery.
