In August 2008, after working in the construction industry for over 10 years, Mark Davies handed in his notice, put a tent in his car, and along with his girlfriend and two close friends, went on a tour around France for 3 weeks. Now although the weather was nice, and the wine was cheap, Mark had other ideas on his mind. He knew that when he got back, he wanted to start his own building company, but one with a difference.

He knew that quality was not going to be an issue, as he had always taken pride in his work, and had been taught from an early age by his Dad (who himself had 33 years experience in the industry) that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing properly.

The challenges would lie in establishing a good reputation, so whilst sitting in a field one night, he asked the question; how does a builder establish a good reputation?

It came as no surprise that the answers weren’t that complex. A builder should:

1. Be reliable i.e. they should always turn up when they say they are going to
   
2. Produce quality work
   
3. Provide a high level of customer service
   
4. Give competitive quotations

In September 2008, based on the above principles, Mark established MD BUILD.

Since starting, and from the feedback we are receiving from our customers, we are achieving our original goals. 

In November 2010, Sarah Bayliss joined MD BUILD as the Business Manager, responsible for the day to day running of the office, sales & marketing.
